Headstones Commemorate and Celebrate One's Life
Creating a timeless tribute for someone involves a lot of thought and preparation. A memorial headstone is more than just a means of marking the final resting place of your loved one. It is a symbol of devotion and should be as unique as the person it commemorates.

At Jensen Monument Company, we understand the desire to create an enduring reminder of your loved one’s life. We are a second-generation, family-owned business that has been providing quality crafted memorial monuments, headstones and grave markers for more than 50 years. Our knowledge, combined with our compassion and sensitivity to our client’s needs, is the hallmark of our service.

The very first thing we do when you come to us for a memorial headstone, monument or grave marker is listen. We understand the difficulty and grief you may be experiencing, and we also know how comforting it is for our clients to talk about the person they are memorializing. We enjoy hearing the wonderful stories and as you talk about the life accomplishments of your parent, spouse, relative or friend, we are able to get a sense of what made that person special.

“Because purchasing a memorial is something that is only done a handful of times in one’s life, we want you to feel comfortable with your final decision,” states Karl Jensen, owner of Jensen Monument Company. “We strive to make sure you are at ease and will take the needed time to walk you through every step of the process. In fact, most of our clients remark that making their selection and purchase was far easier than they had imagined when first walking through the door.”

Selecting the Proper Memorial Monument, Headstone or Grave Marker
Purchasing a memorial monument, headstone or grave marker is something that should be done with great care and consideration. You have choices ranging from upright and slanted headstones to granite memorial plaques and bronze memorial plaques. The type of memorial selected may be pre-determined by the regulations of the cemetery and as such it is important to know their requirements.

As we work with you, we will guide you on the choices of memorials available based on your selected cemetery and its rules and regulations. Headstones and markers come in many shapes, sizes, colors and textures. Basic descriptions can be found below and you may also visit the Memorial Plaques, Headstone Engraving and Headstone Materials pages of our site for more detailed information on all the aspects of selecting a memorial headstone or plaque.

Upright and Slanted Headstones
Upright headstones are what people most remember when they think of a headstone. These are monuments that stand up straight and are comprised of two parts. The upper part is called the tablet and the bottom is referred to as the base. This headstone can be cut in any shape desired and bears the inscription that memorializes your loved one. These headstones can be single or double and are available in a wide variety of finishes and granite choices

Slanted headstones have a wider base that slants towards the back of the memorial. They are typically mid-way in height between upright headstones and the flat markers. Like the upright headstones, slanted markers can be made with rough sides and top or with any number of the sides polished. The slanted headstones can be set either on a base or a poured concrete foundation.

Granite Memorial Plaque Headstones
Granite memorial plaque headstones are flat memorials, also known as grass markers or flush markers. Flat cemetery markers are easier to maintain than the upright headstones. Although they are typically seen as a rectangular shaped plaque headstone or marker, they can come in any size and a variety of shapes. For more information on granite memorial plaque headstones, visit the Memorial Plaques page.

Bronze Plaque Headstones
Bronze plaque headstones are flat memorials that have been set on a granite base. The name, dates, and inscription are cast in bronze and installed on the granite base. You have the option of ordering the bronze plaque headstone with or without a bronze vase. Each bronze memorial plaque headstone is uniquely hand-crafted by skilled artisans who work and turn the cast, hard metal into personalized tributes.
